The Miss West Virginia Organization reached a milestone as it celebrated 80 years of providing opportunities for personal growth and achievement for young women. Among those to reap the benefits is the newly crowned Miss West Virginia’s Teen, Delanie Graham of Kearneysville, as well as the many young women she will meet this year.
A senior at Jefferson High, Delanie will attend the University of Alabama on scholarships she earned in the Miss America’s Teen Competition. She plans to pursue a degree in marketing and public relations, where she can blend creativity with strategy to build meaningful and engaging brand experiences. As Miss West Virginia’s Teen, she applies those skills to represent the Mountain State and promote her Community Service Initiative, Project PowHERful.
From access to professional attire to career readiness workshops, Project PowHERful addresses the real-world barriers that too often stand in the way of a young woman’s future. Closing the opportunity gap for young women by equipping them with the essential tools and resources to navigate their career paths is the goal. Building self-confidence and bright futures is the result. From presenting mentoring workshops to collecting clothing and hygiene products, Delanie is helping high school students reach their full potential.
