Contestants in the Miss West Virginia’s Teen Competition learn valuable life skills and gain experience in public speaking, communications, performance, and community service. Plus, after they graduate high school, they may even attend college on the cash and in-kind scholarships they earned in the areas of talent, spokesmanship, marketing, and advocacy.    

To qualify for the Miss West Virginia’s Teen Competition,  you are invited to enter a local competition. Check out the schedule of upcoming local competitions here.

Each contestant must also have a community service initiative (CSI) for which they will advocate during their year of service.

ELIGIBILITY

To become a contestant you must meet the following criteria:

  • Born between 2006 - 2010

  • Be a US citizen

  • Be a female

  • Meet residency requirements for competing in your town or state

  • Be able to participate in the Miss West Virginia’s Teen Competition in Martinsburg on June 20, 21, 22, and should you win, be able to compete for the title of Miss America’s Teen in Orlando.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Participate in fundraising for our national sponsor, the American Heart Association.

  • Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local and state competitions in which you compete.

  • Submit an essay on your advocacy for your CSI, resume, and headshot.

  • Local and state contestants must purchase Rebel Athletic Wear for the Fitness Competition.

  • In 2010, the Miss West Virginia Competition was joined by its sister program, the Miss West Virginia’s Teen Competition. The winner, Miss West Virginia’s Teen, competes in the national competition for the title of Miss America’s Teen.

  • Miss America is a globally recognized, iconic brand. The four points on the Miss America local, state, and national crown represent service, scholarship, style, and success, and along with sisterhood form the five pillars of the organization.

The first step is to register at the Miss America website.   You only need to register once in a competition season and pay the one-time fee of $39.99.
